Oxford United are backing a scheme offering free healthy heart checks for fans ahead of the game against Kidderminster on Saturday.A "Health Bus" will be at the Kassam Stadium to measure blood pressure, height and weight (BMI), and assess the future risk of heart attack or stroke.
United manager Chris Wilder told BBC Oxford: "It's really important that people keep a check on their health.
"We are all at different ages but it is vital that we keep as fit as possible."
He joked: "I've only been here 13 months but there has already been the last-minute goal against Wrexham and the one against York. It isn't always the calmest place to watch your football.
"Hopefully people will be able to come along and get checked and see the results of the findings."
The checks will take approximately 15 minutes and are an initiative from Oxfordshire's Primary Care Trust.
Health improvement practitioner Claire Laurent said: "It's about detecting risk in people who possibly don't visit their GP very often. It gives them a very quick MOT to assess their health.
"I hope it will promote the idea that getting your blood pressure checked is perfectly routine. It won't take very long and then the fans can go and watch the game."
