United scholar Aaron Woodley has signaled his intensions by penning a 3 year professional contract with the club.

17 year old Woodley a former Radley youth player has already made 2 substitute appearance for United's first team having impressed in recent youth games. The youngster has now put pen to paper on a long term deal that should hold off any interest from potential suitors.

The Abingdon born youngster has told of his delight at netting his first pro deal.

He said: "It has been a whirlwind since the season started.

"I scored a few goals early on, was asked to step up and train with the first team, then had a taste of playing senior football with a couple of substitute appearances.

"To top it all off and be offered the chance to sign as a professional is really exciting and I am happy to get this chance at such a great club."

United manager Chris Wilder said: "He's done well, but this is just the start for him. He's got to make sure he works hard now.

"We're obviously looking after both Aaron's and the club's interests.

"It's something he's des-erved and has come possibly earlier than he thought it would do, but as I've said to him, the hard work starts here, he's now got to go and earn his next contract.

"He'll still be a youth team player, but he's one we think has got a future and one that's been developed by Les and the youth development department."
